MFA issues warning on scammers impersonating as officersThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has issued a warning about scammers impersonating as an MFA officer after some people fell victim to scam calls.
MFA reminded the public on Monday that there is no MFA officer named "Alex Chang", and MFA and other government agencies do not call members of the public to
request for money transfers or
credit card details.
The ministry made a police report on April 22 after it learnt that a man posing as an officer named "Alex Chang" was
telephoning members of the public to verify their personal particulars and
requesting monetary payment to resolve issues related to their immigration white card.
According to MFA, the scam calls have not stopped and there have been a few cases of people who have fallen victim.
MFA advises the public not to transfer any money to the caller or provide credit card details and to report the case to the police at hotline 1800 255 0000 or submit a report online at
